On Loving God

by Thomas Dohling.

Deu 6:5  and you shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

Deu 10:12  And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

Deu 11:1  Therefore you shall love Yahweh your God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his ordinances, and his commandments, always.

Deu 11:13  It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to my commandments which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

Deu 11:22  For if you shall diligently keep all this commandment which I command you, to do it, to love Yahweh your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave to him;

Deu 19:9  if you shall keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you this day, to love Yahweh your God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shall you add three cities more for you, besides these three:

Deu 30:6  Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live.

Deu 30:20  to love Yahweh your God, to obey his voice, and to cleave to him; for he is your life, and the length of your days;

Jos 22:5  Only take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, to love Yahweh your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave to him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Jos 23:11  Take good heed therefore to yourselves, that you love Yahweh your God.

Mat 22:37  Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.'

Mar 12:30  you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment.

Luk 10:27  He answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."

NOTHING “will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” Rom.8:39.

2Th 2:16  Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

2Th 3:5  May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ.

Jude 21  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

What is the purpose of  displaying all the above verses?   You may ask.  There is a thread running through them; A THREAD OF LOVE.  An appeal from God to man:  LOVE ME! LOVE ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART!  LOVE ME WITH ALL YOUR SOUL!  LOVE ME WITH ALL YOUR MIND!  LOVE ME WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH!  BECAUSE I  AM LOVE AND HAVE LOVED YOU WITH AN EVERLASTING LOVE!  HOW?  LOOK AT THE CROSS!  LOOK AT JESUS!  LOOK AT THE EMPTY TOMB!  I WANT YOU TO LOVE ME!  I COMMAND YOU TO LOVE ME!

Consider the following passage where God is addressing Jerusalem of old and the new Jerusalem [the bride of Christ]:

“Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord Yahweh, and you became mine.    Then washed I you with water; yes, I thoroughly washed away your blood from you, and I anointed you with oil.   I clothed you also with embroidered work, and shod you with sealskin, and I girded you about with fine linen, and covered you with silk.   I decked you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your hands, and a chain on your neck.   I put a ring on your nose, and ear-rings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head.    Thus was you decked with gold and silver; and your clothing was of fine linen, and silk, and embroidered work; you ate fine flour, and honey, and oil; and you were exceeding beautiful, and you did prosper to royal estate.    Your renown went forth among the nations for your beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put on you, says the Lord Yahweh” [Eze 16:8-14:].

Even as Jerusalem of old prided in her own beauty and played the harlot, even so we see signs of the new Jerusalem following suit:

“But you did trust in your beauty, and played the prostitute because of your renown, and poured out your prostitution on everyone who passed by; his it was.   You took of your garments, and made for yourselves high places decked with various colors, and played the prostitute on them: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so.   You also took your beautiful jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself images of men, and played the prostitute with them;  and you took your embroidered garments, and covered them, and did set my oil and my incense before them.  My bread also which I gave you, fine flour, and oil, and honey, with which I fed you, you did even set it before them for a sweet savor; and thus it was, says the Lord Yahweh” [Ezekiel 16:15-19].

Those who have an understanding mind will understand what the Spirit is saying to the churches today.
